Brookline is full of culture, arts and fun activities. Below is a sampling of the types of events we get to see on a yearly basis.
Brookline Day – This year Brookline Day is on September 24th, 2017. The first annual Brookline day was back in 2012. The event involves business owners, town agencies, and partners headed by Brookline Recreation Department come together to organize this event for the residents. This year the event is going to be the best and the biggest event yet, including games, face painters, food, prizes, bands and special activities. The 5K Road Race is a huge hit during Brookline day.
The Brookline Public Library is known for holding fantastic events each year. This year, for example, they kicked off summer with Tee Off @ the Library: Star Wars. They offered mini-golf, Star Wars trivia challenge and a chance to wear the best Star War Costumes and take a photograph.
Adult Archery
Brookline Adult Ed also offers wonderful programs each year. This summer, you have the chance to discover the experience of empowerment that comes along with learning how to use a bow and arrow. The class starts on June-19th. You will be guided through to break the complicated process of shooting into basic steps that are easy to understand. All equipment will be provided and beginners along with intermediates are welcome. Those who are enrolled are eligible to take part in outdoor summer Archery Tournament in August.
Coolidge Corner Art Festival
Held at the beginning of summer, you can enjoy and purchase work of over 100 local artists. Enjoy drink/beer and listen to some great music at the event. The event also accolades the winner with the Susan Litcher Jury Prize.
Summer Concert 2017
The stage is set for Summer Concert 2017. The concert will run from July 5th until August 7th, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm. This year its held in Cypress Park. Grab your lawn chair, blanket along with your picnic basket to enjoy an eventful night. Experience the diverse selection of music including American roots, rhythm, and blues, afro pop, Cappella, children’s to Latin. Every year these events bring about 400 to 600 Brookline residents, families and friends together.
Brookline also boasts a vibrant art and music history. Local favorites, The Love Dogs, will perform on the library lawn on June 28th from 7-8pm. This award winning band brings in elements from New Orleans R & B, early rock and roll and jump blues into their own power packed sound.
The Contemporary Craft Exhibit is planned in Brookline Arts Center on July 21st, 2017. Since 1800, New England has been at the center of American craft.
