What to Expect at the First Visit

An Introduction — Assessing Your Health Issues

You'll prepare a health inventory in advance to familiarize me with your medical history and your present health status.

• We'll discuss your reasons for treatment.
• I'll ask you a few more questions about your energy level, sleep quality, digestion and other general health issues.
• I'll perform a clothed physical exam. This typically involves pulse-taking and a painless abdominal exam.

The Treatment

I'll perform acupuncture plus a combination of ther complementary treatments, depending on your needs.

• Treatments generally last about 45 minutes to one hour.
• Many patients find them extremely pleasant, even relaxing.
• Many patients feel the curative effects of acupuncture immediately.

Unlike many other acupuncturists, I never leave the room during the treatment, so I can closely monitor how you are responding.

Follow-up

At the end of the visit, as with all subsequent visits, I'll perform a physical exam to gauge what we've accomplished.
