Questions & Answers

Is acupuncture safe?
Yes. I perform acupuncture with sterile, disposable needles.

Is there scientific research that proves acupuncture's success?
Acupuncture has been proven to effectively treat a wide variety of illnesses and conditions. Additional studies are ongoing.

Can I tell my regular doctor that I’m receiving acupuncture treatments?

Absolutely. I believe patients should be very open with their doctors about any treatment they are receiving. I am happy to work collaboratively with your other healthcare professionals to ensure the best, most comprehensive care.

What happens if I'm not getting better after a few treatments?

In some cases, just a few sessions may not be sufficient. Long-standing, chronic conditions, for example, may require a longer course of treatment. The number of visits usually depends on the nature of the problem, the patient's overall health and his or her goals.

Judy Anderson talks about her father…
At 87, my father, Bob McConell, needed a hip replacement operation. He was taking Darvocet four times a day to handle the excruciating pain. During a consultation, Dad was instructed to discontinue his medication for 14 days before the operation. We went to Robert about a month beforehand. After his first acupuncture treatment, Dad only needed one Darvocet on four occasions during the following week. After a second appointment, Dad only took one Darvocet for the entire week. And in the final week before surgery, Dad didn't need any pain medication at all. After the operation, Dad was off his pain medication within a couple of days, and he hasn't needed anything since. It is now a year later, and my Dad's new hip is working well and he walks without any pain. I can't thank Robert enough for what he’s done for my father.
