Robert's powerful personal experience sparked a curiosity about how Oriental medicine works through the mind, body and spirit.
A general practitioner who treats a wide range of conditions, Robert is an expert in non-insertive styles of Japanese acupuncture. He has studied in Japan and the United States with leading practitioners of these methods.
Robert is also part of a select group of acupuncturists who are introducing these non-insertive techniques to the United States. He is one of only five instructors in the United States to gain teacher’s certification from Shakuju-kai, the Japan-based educational association responsible for teaching Shakuju Therapy. Robert also teaches Japanese acupuncture at NESA.
Robert has a keen interest in research and was a founding member of the NESA Institutional Review Board. The board reviewed clinical acupuncture trials to ensure that they were ethical and that the rights of study participants were protected.
Robert is a founding member and Treasurer of the Shakuju Association of North America (SANA), as well as a member of Shakuju-kai. He is also a member of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM); the American Acupuncture Council (AAC); the North American Journal of Oriental Medicine (NAJOM) and the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Society of Massachusetts (AOMSM).
